Afterglow

Based on the Poem: "Imagined Desires"

ree

While you beg for answers,

I burn the script,

Rain on my skin, slow poison drip.

You said mercy, I heard sin.

The night let every secret in.

Dance with me, in the afterglow,

Where the thunder hums and the dark things grow.

Every bruise a love I’ll never show,

Dance with me, in the afterglow.

Your mirror shines like a prayer half-spoken,

Our commandments carved, our vows all broken.

I paint you soft, I write you wild.

My ruin, my muse, my fevered child.

Dance with me, in the afterglow,

Where the thunder hums and the dark things grow.

Every bruise a love I’ll never show.

Dance with me, in the afterglow.

Let the fire fade, let the shadows know,

I’ll love you quiet, and let you go.

Dance with me, just once,

In the afterglow.
